Johnny Lost His Gun -- 'Johnny lost his gun' shows two stories on the background of the conflict between Israel and the Arab forces in south Lebanon in the 90's. The stories take place at the same time a morning in Israel.

The first is a story of two soldiers who come to do a 'job'. Te soldiers represent the conflict within the Israeli people regarding war, especially this one; one soldier represent the left wing who think that war is useless and stupid while the other one represent the right wing and he takes the situation seriously. In this film the very intense conflict is shown in a clever way, we've put a mirror in front of the Israeli people, showing both sides, both ideas with a bit of our own.

The second plot tells the story of a mother, 'Rona Burstein', who is divorced, poor; the bank wants to confiscate her home due to heavy dept.
She has a rebellion and moody teen-aged girl ('Noa'), a restless little boy who keeps messing up the house ('David') and an elder child ('Johnny') who is in the army, on whom she relies to help her financially and morally, to save her (take the father role).
The mother doesn't get a moment of peace, from trying to convince the bank to give an extension in payments and handling with the kids – her entire world is falling apart, all of her hopes are on Johnny which is suppose to come home that day, along with a paycheck from the army.

The two stories combine at the end as we realize that the soldiers 'job' is to tell the mother that her son, her only hope and help, Johnny, died at war. That moment the mother is crushed, the banks didn't approve the extension and their future is uncertain, she's hurt her leg from some pieces of glass of a cup her son, David, broke earlier and she hears the words that every mother is afraid of, the death of her son.

The film has a clear message on war and how it affects the life of the citizens, the life of the family. It asks if the price we pay for the war is worth it.
